How to Avoid Being Sick in College

Many college students are sure that one of the worst things about living away from home is not having your mom to take care of you when you get sick. Actually, almost all of them have no idea what to do when they get ill. I have an autoimmune disorder, so I have had many sick days in my life. And now I am going to share with you some pieces of advice on how to avoid getting sick.

Have a Rest

Nothing is more helpful in making you feel better than a good rest. Take some time to relax. Take a bath or have a TV shows marathon. All students push themselves past to breaking points without even realizing it, and they need to take a moment and have a breath of fresh air.

Treat Yourself

Apply a facemask. Watch a film that you have been waiting to see for so long. Paint your nails. Go shopping. Do the things that you’d like to do but have no time for. Take care of yourself.

Visit a Health Center

When you are sick, you feel it. You should visit the doctor at your campus’ health center to figure out whether it is just a cold or something more serious. Most likely, it will be a very short walk away from the room, so you will not have to get out of bed for too long. When you visit the doctor, do not forget to ask for a note for your professors.

Take Cold Remedies

Sometimes, you have no time to think about how to stop being sick. In some situations, you have to take cold remedies when you have no other chances of getting to the drugstore. These medicines help get rid of fever heat, cough, and sore throat. They are designed to bring quick effect.

Skip Classes if You Need

When you feel sick, you should definitely take a couple of days off. You need them to give your body a chance to enter the recovery mode.

Before making such decision, you should check the syllabus to ensure you are not missing something too important. Let your professor know you will not be there and go back to bed.

Remember about Meals

When you are sick, you still need to be hydrated. Until you feel well, water, tea and soup are your new best friends. You may just forget about eating a real food while you are sick, so make yourself a dinner or pick one up. You will feel much better.

Clean Your Room

Some people’s rooms become real disasters when they are ill. Even if you are very tired, believe me, you will feel better in a clear room. So take out the trash, wash your bedding, clean the dishes.

So, here are several ways to stop being sick:

  • Take some time to relax.
  • Take care of yourself.
  • Go see a doctor.
  • Take medicines.
  • Skip your classes.
  • Eat.
  • Clean up the room.
